Discover how to automate your sales process with an AI sales agent that can hold real phone conversations, qualify leads, and book appointments with your team. This step-by-step guide reveals the exact setup and strategies used to successfully test this AI solution with 300 local businesses.

How to Set Up Your Own AI Sales Agent in Go High Level

After seeing how well this AI sales agent performed during my 300 business test run, I knew I had to show you exactly how I set it up. The key tool I used to build and run this AI agent is called Go High Level. If you're serious about automating parts of your agency or want to explore what's possible with AI voice technology, this is the only platform you need.

To set up your own AI sales agent, follow these steps:

  1. Create the AI Agent: Inside your Go High Level dashboard, head to the "AI Agent" tab and click "Create Agent." This is where the magic happens, allowing your AI to hold real voice conversations with leads.

  2. Personalize the Agent Settings: Name your agent, enter your business name, choose the language, and select the voice. I found the "Steve" Australian male voice to be the most human-sounding and engaging.

  3. Define the Agent's Goal: Switch the agent mode to "Advanced" and add the prompt script that tells your AI how to think, act, and what the desired outcome should be when talking to potential leads.

  4. Set up Human Call Transfer: Configure the agent to transfer the call to a real human if the prospect asks to speak with someone. This ensures a smooth handoff.

  5. Automate Contact Name Updates: Set up an automation to update the contact's first name in Go High Level whenever the AI hears them say it.

  6. Add SMS Actions: Create two SMS actions - one to send the website link and another to book appointments.

  7. Enable Email Notifications: Turn on email notifications to stay informed about every conversation the AI has.

  8. Connect the Phone Number: Link the phone number from your Go High Level account that you want the AI agent to be connected to.

With these steps, your AI sales agent is fully set up and ready to start talking to leads, sending texts, booking appointments, and handing off to a real person when needed. Leverage this powerful tool to automate the first steps of your sales process 24/7.

Personalize Your AI Agent's Settings

Once you're inside your GoHighle dashboard, head over to the AI agent tab at the top. You'll see an option that says "voice AI" - click that. This is where the magic happens, as this is what allows your AI to hold real voice conversations with leads, just like a trained appointment setter would.

Click "create agent" to get started. If you're using the provided snapshot, the agent will already be created, but this is still good to know in case you want to make your own version.

Now you're inside the agent settings. Here's where you personalize everything:

  1. Name your agent: I called mine "Bob" because I wanted something simple and friendly, but feel free to get creative. You could go with a professional name, a niche-related persona, or something more human and conversational.

  2. Business name: This is where you enter your agency name or the business your AI will be representing.

  3. Language: Choose English, Spanish, French, or whatever your clients speak. Multilingual support is built-in.

  4. Voice selection: GoHighLevel gives you quite a few voice options to choose from, both male and female. I tested nearly all of them to find one that sounded most human, clear, and engaging. For me, the best one was "Steve" (Australian male) - his tone was calm, confident, and didn't sound robotic, which is key for maintaining trust during a call. But depending on your brand's vibe, you might prefer a female voice or even one with a different accent. Feel free to try a few and see which fits your audience best.

  5. Time zone: Set this so the AI knows when to be active.

  6. Call settings: Make sure to select "inbound calls only" right now. The AI agent can only respond when someone calls into your number, but GoHighLevel is rolling out outbound AI calling soon, which means the agent will eventually be able to call leads on your behalf.

  7. Initial message: This is what your AI agent says when it first answers a call. I like to keep this friendly and non-intrusive, something like "Hey, this is Bob. Can I ask who's calling?" This simple, friendly opening line immediately invites the caller into a conversation, and from there, the AI takes over with follow-up questions tailored to lead into your sales funnel.

With these settings in place, your AI agent now has a name, a voice, and a phone line, and it's ready to work. Don't forget to grab that free trial of GoHighLevel and join the Hile Quest community to get the free AI agent snapshot.

Craft the Conversational Script for Your AI Agent

Now that our AI agent has a name, a voice, and a phone number, it's time to give it a brain. This is where we define exactly what the agent is supposed to do when someone calls, and we do that inside the agent goal section.

By default, your agent will be in basic mode, but we're going to switch it to advanced mode. Once you do that, you'll see a big box pop up, and that's where we're going to drop in the prompt. This is basically the script that tells your AI how to think, how to act, and what the outcome should be when it's talking to potential leads.

I built mine completely from scratch, and this isn't some default template. This is something I customized for my own business, Web Juice, and for my offer. But you don't need to do all that heavy lifting from zero. I'll show you what mine looks like here in the video, and you can screenshot it or grab it from the Hile Quest snapshot if you're in the community.

The only things you really need to change are two things:

  1. The business niche. I built this to reach out to landscaping businesses, so if you're targeting plumbers, dentists, roofers, or whatever, just swap out the landscaping mentions with your niche. That's it.

  2. Your agency name. Anywhere you see "Web Juice," just replace it with your own agency name.

Once you do those two things, your prompt is good to go.

Integrate Your AI Agent with Lead Sources

Now that your AI agent is set up and ready to go, it's time to integrate it with your lead sources. This will ensure your new digital team member always has people to talk to and convert into booked appointments.

There are a few ways you can do this:

  1. Facebook Ads: Set up your Facebook ad campaigns to send leads directly to your AI agent's phone number. When someone clicks on your ad, they'll be connected with your AI agent who can then qualify them and book a call with a human closer.

  2. Website Integration: Embed your AI agent's phone number on your website, especially on key pages like your home page or services page. This allows website visitors to immediately connect with your AI agent and get the sales process started.

  3. Cold Outreach: Use your AI agent's phone number for any cold calling or SMS campaigns. The agent can handle the initial qualification and appointment booking, making your outreach efforts more efficient.

  4. Local Listings: Add your AI agent's phone number to your Google My Business listing, Yelp profile, and other local directories. This ensures anyone searching for your services can easily reach out and connect with your AI agent.

No matter which lead sources you choose, the key is to make it easy for potential customers to engage with your AI agent. The more conversations it can have, the more appointments it can book, and the more revenue you'll generate for your business.

So start integrating your AI agent today and watch it work its magic 24/7 to grow your sales pipeline.
